From the Commandant

I trust you are all enjoying the relatively mild winter we are experiencing so far. Now that Punxsutawney Phil has declared six more weeks of winter, hopefully it will be more of the mild variety.
Thanks to Steve Miller and his crew we have a fresh new coat of paint inside the bunker. We are probably
going to rearrange how we set up the inside walls, as we need to make room for our future Iraq and
Afghanistan plaques in addition to repositioning our U.S. and Detachment Flags.

The last six months has seen a reduction in membership due to transfers, moves out of state, and way too many funerals. Recruitment is our number one priority and will be a major topic in the next few meetings. The Department has made some interesting suggestions on how best to go about recruitment and we will explore many of these ideas. In addition; we will be nominating Officers, and appointing Staff positions in February and March. Now is the time to consider what you would like to do, and how best you can support YOUR detachment.

We are going to reinforce the contact, and buddy system for our homebound Marines. Five different Marines will divide the list of eleven members to make monthly calls, and or in person visits. In addition, we are working on an updated “last call-last salute” informational packet for what we need to put in place for our spouses and family members prior to taking our last post. Ok Marines I will see you on February 9th at 19:00 hrs.
